Affected by Mo Salah, Liverpool Fan Converts to Islam

LIVERPOOL – It seems that a Liverpool fan has announced his decision to convert to Islam following Mohamed Salah four goals against Watford on Saturday, March 17.

“What Salah is doing this season is absolutely sensational, I’m officially joining Islam,” a user called Liverpool Family wrote on Twitter.

The Tweet was liked more than 25 thousand times and received more than 34 thousand comments.

Salah scored four goals in Liverpool’s 5-0 victory over Watford on Saturday, the goals which put him in pole position for the Premier League’s golden boot.

The Egyptian Muslim international’s first hat-trick for the club took his tally to 36 for the campaign and his 28 in the top flight.

Hailing from a 90%-Muslim-majority country, Salah is a devout Muslim and often prostrates to God on the field after scoring goals – a trend in sports that Egyptian players have started since 2006 during the African Cup of Nations in Egypt- hence nicknamed the ‘Prostrating Pharaohs’.

Last month, the traveling Liverpool fans in the streets of a Portuguese city in midweek struck up a new chant to the tune of the 90s hit “Good Enough” by Dodgy with the line: “If he scores another few, then I’ll be Muslim too!

A recent report by Football Against Racism in Europe (Fare) found that the success of Liverpool Muslim star Mohamed Salah has significantly decreased hate and race crimes in the English Premier League.

Salah is not the only Muslim player in Liverpool and Premier League. More players can be found in the report below.
